Lessons from the Trenches – Learning from the Rails Bootcamp
So, you've created one, two, maybe even a few Rails applications. You're passionate about Rails, and want to spread the word – by teaching your friends, colleagues, bosses, and even your mom. How do you effectively show them how to use MVC to keep things DRY, or how to KISS by embracing the CRUD, while using REST to get a free API? Oh, and how do you do it without using 6 acronyms in one sentence and scaring them off with your ninja-like Ruby skills?
As an instructor for the Big Nerd Ranch's Ruby on Rails Bootcamp Course and consultant at Highgroove Studios, I'll share lessons on getting down and dirty in the trenches, and teaching Rails to a variety of, well, nerds, geeks, developers, coders, designers, managers, and everyday people. I'll show best practices and techniques for spreading the passion, effectively and easily.
Whether you're converting Java developers by showing them how to override everything, or bringing designers up to speed on partials and Ruby's each operator, or simply explaining how testing is built right in to managers and coders alike – I will share how I've helped many companies and individuals get up to speed quickly and effectively through simple examples, clear explanations, analogies, presentations, and other means.
