Shining a Light on the Dark Magic of ActiveRecord
This presentation will walk attendees through the internals of the ActiveRecord, exposing the techniques behind one of the most interesting parts of Ruby on Rails. I will cover the implementation of ActiveRecord::Base along with connection adapters, callbacks, mixins for adding behaviors, validations, migrations and more. Consider it a 45 minute crash course on the internals of ActiveRecord. By the end of this presentation I hope to have removed some of the mysticism associated with ActiveRecord and make it more accessible to everyone.
